I have gimpy little TRex arms.

Second visit the the Rheumatologist today. We both agreed that the thumb braces were a failure, but he still cannot see any swelling in my joints. I’ve been put on two weeks of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (Celebrex) to see if it helps, and if it does I have a prescription to continue on it. If this doesn’t help, my case will probably be handed over to the orthopedic surgeons where I’ll probably go through another round of braces, perhaps cortisone injections into my wrists, and possibly surgery if nothing helps.

I *probably* have Carpal Tunnel, but we have to go through all the steps before that’ll be official. I’m sick of having gimpy wrists and hands; you’d not believe how much you use your hands until it hurts to do so. :(

Hand/Wrist update.

Been told that so far there isn’t a serious medical reason behind the pain (thyroid, rheumatoid and lupus tests came back negative), so I’ve been told to wear thumb splints to bed for a month. They may help with some inflammation at the base of my thumbs, which may be causing the other pain; after a month I’ll head back and see what the doctor says. We’ll see. Not fun typing with them on though. :P

Decisions

There are 42 recently rescued ferrets in Charlotte in need of a good home, and pogle and I can’t decide if we should adopt one or not. Minion seems to need company sometimes…and other times he seems fine. It would increase the cost of care, and there’d be a lot more cleanup. There might also be personality issues between ferrets.

But there’s a lot of ferrets in need and we would be able to help. No idea what to do.

In wrist news, I’ve been put on Mobic for wrist pain and will be seeing a rheumatologist mid-March.  I’ve accepted the fact that something is wrong, and now I just want a way to manage it so I can continue doing the things I love to do for a long time.
