Ew.

As many of you know, pogle is…well, his skin is…corrosive. His body has this strange property to it that will wear away paint on devices (see his laptop for palm prints or the now black buttons on his handheld). This quality also affects his cotton clothing: socks, t-shirts, etc. They all start to get this disintegrating look to them after awhile, although the experimental bamboo t-shirt I bought him is holding up really well.*

Now, his poor sheets have to deal with this corrosive factor on a daily basis. I make sure to wash the pillowcases frequently and the sheets almost as often. My new washer has an awesome “sanitary” setting that I can use on these items, which works wonders.

Except…

To protect his pillow (as you can imagine, this is very necessary), it has one of those thick protective cases that go beneath the normal pillowcase. This thing gets funky. Not even the “sanitary” mode on the washer can help it–it still comes out greasy and nasty feeling.

The only way I’ve found to de-ickify this thing is hand washing it with dishsoap (hey, it’s made for grease right?). For some reason, pogle found this hilarious and instructed me to share it with the world.

You’re welcome. :p

*I hope they start mass marketing bamboo clothing soon, as this one was pricey and difficult to find online. From a website advertising bamboo clothing:

Bamboo fabric is naturally anti-microbial, hypoallergenic and thermal regulating. It is also resistant to mould. After multiple washings, over 70% of the bacteria cultured on bamboo textiles are destroyed by the fiber. Bamboo breathes and wicks moisture away due to its porous nature. Bamboo also has an excellent drape and a silky-cashmere feel.
